Reindeer Games 8
“This is so awesome!” Dasher said.
As they were making their way to the first house, Rudolph was struck with sudden fear. They had never practiced roof landings! He looked back at the rest of the team, and they were thinking the same thing. But Thankfully, Santa knew just what to do. He pulled the reins left, then right, getting the reindeer in line for a perfect descent onto the roof. They cheered, then remembered their training and went into silent mode.
Santa nimbly jumped off the sleigh. “I still got it!” He said.
But the roof was more slippery than he had expected. “I Don’t got it!” He said as he slid to the edge.
“I got you!” Rudolph said, leaping to his side. Santa grabbed on to his antler just before he slipped off the gutter.
“Thanks! But who’s got you?”
“I do!” Dancer said, grabbing Rudolph's hoof.
The other reindeer made sure the sleigh didn’t slide, while Dancer pulled Rudolph and Santa back on the roof.
“Guys! That was amazing! We didn’t even train for that!” Rudolph said.
“You trained us to expect the unexpected!” Vixen said.
When everything was back to normal, Santa made his way down the first chimney, into the first living room, ate the first cookies and drank the first milk, Placed the first presents, filled the first stockings, and came up the chimney again.
“Here you go.” Santa said, handing Dancer the first carrot.
“Why does she get the first carrot?” Prancer whined.
“Because she saved me.” Rudolph said.
They were on their way again, to the next house, Which went a lot smoother. In England there was an encounter with an angry orange cat, and in Egypt Santa almost lost all the presents down the Nile. And Rudolph was right, there were a lot of carrots. Soon they came to the last house.
“Here we are!” Dasher said.
“What do you all want for Christmas?” Cupid asked as Santa dove down the last chimney shouting “Yah-whoo!”. (He might have had a little too much rum with his mince pies)
“Definitely not any more carrots!” Dancer joked.
“Guess I never really thought about it.” Donner said. “Being on the team has been so much fun, and we’ve learned so much. I haven’t been thinking about what I wanted, but what I could give to kids all around the world!”
“What could you give them?” Vixen asked
“Joy. Even though I don’t get to see their smiling faces on Christmas morning, I can feel it in my heart as we deliver these gifts.” Donner answered.
Rudolph smiled proudly. “You have learned so much, you all have.”
“Helpf.” Commit said.
“What?” Prancer asked. They looked at him and gasped. Commit’s tongue was stuck to an icicle.
