Reindeer Games 9
“It’th not thunny!” He said, his face burning red.
“Let’s get you unstuck.” Rudolph said. he couldn’t hide his amused face. He pulled Commit’s antlers.
“Ow! Ow! Ow! Thtop! That Hurths!” Commit said. Rudolph stopped and looked at him.
“It is foolish to lick ice, and I don’t know how else to get you unstuck!” he said sternly.
Commit hung his head.
“Wait! I know!” Dasher said. “What if we just break the icicle off at the top!” (Dasher and Commit were friends, so if one was in trouble the other was sure to help him out)
Rudolph thought for a moment then agreed. Then Santa came up the Chimney and saw Commit.
“Ho! Ho! Ho! Don’t you know it is foolish to lick ice?”
“I do now.” he mumbled.
“Santa, will you do us a favor by breaking this icicle?” Rudolph asked.
“Of course!” He said, snapping it in half.
“My dear friends,” Santa said, climbing into the sleigh. “We have done it! Now we can go home.”
They cheered and took off for the last time that night. That's when Rudolph noticed just how tired he was. It had been a long night for all of them, and he was thankful they were going home. The way back was mostly uneventful, sometimes a reindeer or two would nod off for a while before being shaken awake by their partner. Commit still carried a bit of icicle left on his tongue.
“I can’t believe I did that.” Commit said, his face still red.
“It’s all right!” Rudolph said “I even did it on my first run.” He added, lowering his voice. Commit smiled.
“We’re home!” Santa announced. All the reindeer excitedly quickened their pace. No longer sleepy, with half open eyes, but wild, with delighted eyes longing to be back home. When they landed, they were immediately surrounded by friends and family, welcoming them home. The minute the elves took off the reindeer’s harness’, they leapt for joy and embraced their warm welcome, but soon after went to bed. When they awoke, It was Christmas morning.
Merry Christmas!
