Simply Having a Horrible Christmas Time 2

Chapter 2 “How ‘bout some Christmas karaoke?” I asked, turning up the radio.  Maddie shot me her “I-would-rather-eat-a-toad” face but I was already belting out Jingle Bell Rock before she could protest. “What a biiiiight time it’s the riiiiiight time-” I drummed the steering wheel to the beat. “To rock the night away,” Jack sang happily only slightly off key. Rufis howled, sticking his head into the cab. “Jingle bell time, it’s a, swell time-” Maddie turned the radio off. “Hey!” Jack exclaimed. “Buzz killer.” “Can’t we just like, talk or something? Do we have to listen to Christmas music the whole way there?” Maddie asked. “Maddie choosing to talk face to face with her family!? I am shocked,” Jack said, who was still grumpy from having to stop. “So mom, What’s our first stop?” Maddie asked, ignoring Jack. “Candy Cane Lane Cocoa and Coffee!” I exclaimed. “And here we are now!” We park next to a building which some might call, “blindingly cheery” (Some as in my daughter) other...

This is it!! the post to celebrating getting to 50 posts!!  I have been doing this blog for over a year now, and it has been so much fun! I want to thank all my diligent  readers who kept coming back! 😁 I hope to maybe even one-day get to 100 posts! Yay!! 😁 In celebration of that, I will share with you some unposted short stories; A Snippet from Sea Dogs “Set off!” Captain Bellowed. The ship lurched forward and I stumbled into Butch. “‘Avent got ye sea legs, eh laddy?” Butch set me back up by the shoulders.  “I guess not sir,” I answered as I took hold of the railing. “Ay, you get used to it,” he set his stubbed hand on my arm. “But you be careful, wont be want’n to be bumping into the crew while they be work’n, I fancy.” “Yes sir,” A wave of nausea washed over me and I gripped the railing harder. “You alright there lad?” Butches almost looked concerned.  “Yes- I’m-” my stomach churned and I veered my head over the side of the ship and gagged. “E’s sea sick!?   Dec 5, 2024 Mon chère Belle, Wow! I never knew France had such a different Christmas. In answer to your question, some of our family traditions are opening our stockings on Christmas eve, reading Christmas books, and eating pizza. Now, you might be thinking, “eating pizza!? You Americans are very different,” but my family has a special day where we make gingerbread houses, get a picture with Santa, drink hot cocoa, have lunch out, then watch a Christmas parade! It is very fun What is your favorite Christmas tradition? ta cousine de Noël, Lulu

Letters For Lulu

Dec 3, 2024 Dear Lulu,  Bonjour de Paris ! Merci beaucoup for the letter, I am happy to see Christmas is starting off well. Snow in Paris is rare and fleeting, but this week we got the most snow we have had in years! A whole inch and a half! It did look beautiful on la Tour Eiffel. Christmas in France is wonderful! On Christmas eve the children leave carrots in their shoes by the Christmas tree for Père Noël’s donkey! Then my people go to midnight mass. When they come home, sometimes we open presents when we can’t until morning. What are some of your Christmas traditions? Au revoir pour l'instant, Belle

Dec 2, 2024 Chère Belle, My dear cousin, it has been too long! But you will understand, it is hard to get stamps when you are a dog.  How is the weather in Paris? We just got snow here in Kansas! The kids seemed to have fun, but I personally don’t like the cold snow, even when I’m wearing a sweater! It is pretty to look at (from inside ), sparkling on the ground and in the trees, giving a new light to what had been dimed by fall. Do you get much snow in Paris? I imagine it would look Jolie on la Tour Eiffel.  Christmas time is coming! We just got out the Christmas tree. There is just something Magical about the Christmas season. The lights on the tree, the festive music, the candy canes! My favorite part is when we all get together and watch a Christmas movie. How do you celebrate Christmas? ta cousine, Lulu
