51st Post!? REALLY!?

This is it!! the post to celebrating getting to 50 posts!!

I have been doing this blog for over a year now, and it has been so much fun!

I want to thank all my diligent  readers who kept coming back! 😁

I hope to maybe even one-day get to 100 posts!

Yay!! 😁

In celebration of that, I will share with you some unposted short stories;

A Snippet from Sea Dogs

“Set off!” Captain Bellowed.

The ship lurched forward and I stumbled into Butch.

“‘Avent got ye sea legs, eh laddy?” Butch set me back up by the shoulders.

“I guess not sir,” I answered as I took hold of the railing.

“Ay, you get used to it,” he set his stubbed hand on my arm. “But you be careful, wont be want’n to be bumping into the crew while they be work’n, I fancy.”

“Yes sir,” A wave of nausea washed over me and I gripped the railing harder.

“You alright there lad?” Butches almost looked concerned.

“Yes- I’m-” my stomach churned and I veered my head over the side of the ship and gagged.

“E’s sea sick!? On i’s first day!” he limped away muttering.

Another Snippet from Sea Dogs

I looked out to sea, rain pounding on my back. The ship rocked wildly in the ever churning waves.

“lower the sails!” Captain Joans bellowed over the howling wind.

Pete and Jib scurried up the masts but the wind had already torn right through the sails.

There was a rumbling from deep below.

No.

I bolted to the bow and leaned out.

Another rumble and a spray of seafoam in my eyes.

No!

Blindly, I ran back to the deck.

“Captain! We have to turn back!” I screamed, taking hold of his sleeve.

He shoved me aside, and I fell to the floor.

Something surfaced the water, the rumbling louder than ever.

Waves crashed around me, I was soaked to the bone.

Why did I ever get on this cursed ship!

The rain ceased.

I scrambled up to the helm, and taking hold of it I heaved it to the left.

The ship tipped to the side but I held my ground.

On the right, out of the waves burst what could be called a nightmare.

Its gaze locked with mine and I stood frozen, my feet rooted to the deck. Every fiber of me screaming, run!

But I couldn’t.

The creature leaned back in what I thought was retreat. But then, in one moment of terror,

It jumped.

barricading the ship, it's green scaly belly plowing through the crow's nest and ending on the other side.

I was thrown to the side.

The last thing I saw was its silvery tail disappearing below the surface, then nothing else.

(Only Picture I could find 😅)

School of Cool Snippet

The crisp September breeze tousled my hair playfully as I sprinted down the sidewalk. Summer was over and school had begun, was it four weeks ago now? Time really flies when you’re not looking forward to something.

But I didn’t have to worry about that today. Today was going to be enough trouble. For starters, my alarm clock broke so it was thanks to my sister I didn’t sleep past seven. How embarrassing. Of course that meant I didn’t have time for breakfast. Not that I like oatmeal anyway. But since I missed the bus, now I was going to be late. Not that I usually take the bus.

I checked my thankfully-not-broken watch again and groaned. 7:15!? I’m dead.

I tried to run faster, willing every muscle in my legs to work harder and wishing I had signed up for track.

I could see the school, maybe I could still make it-

Rough hands caught me by the hood of my sweatshirt and yanked me back just a car whizzed by in front of me. I whirled around to face Derick, the crosswalk guard.

“ARE YOU CRAZY!? Did you even see the road?! You could have been killed!” he screamed in my face.

“Just making your job more interesting, sir,” I replied. How had I not seen the road!?

He held me there until it was safe, then shoved me forward grumbling something about teenagers and their death wishes.

Running a little bit more carefully, I dodged the other late comers and burst through the white double doors.

After opening my locker and shoving my backpack in, I grabbed my handbook along with my notebook and pencil and walked through the thankful still open doors to Algebra 1.

“Hello Miles, you’re late,” Miss Aubrey said as warmly as someone who just found out they didn’t get their teacher promotion. “Please turn in your homework assignment.”

I opened my notebook and pulled out two pages of hopefully correct answers and sat down at my usual desk.

“You’re sure here early,” Scooted whispered, leaning out from his desk.

“Hardy har har,” I rolled my eyes as I spread my books out.

“You missed the pledge!” Coda said from behind me, he leaned forward and poking me in the back with a pencil.“And who dared you to run into moving traffic!?”

I cringed. “You saw that?”

“Dude, there’s a window right here,” Scooter said.

“Look, I was going to be late-”

“And clearly being roadkill was going to be a better option,” Coda snickered.

“Guys, seriously, just stop. I was trying to get to school on time. I didn’t see the road-”

“The giant, noisy road,” Scooter added.

“But Derick saw me and it was ok. No dares, no deaths. Happy?”

“Indudibly.” Coda grinned.

“Alright class, turn to page sixty-five of your workbook,” Miss Aubrey instructed as Scooter Coda and I focused back on our work.

YAY!! YOU DID IT!! YOU READ THEM ALL!! (Or skipped to the bottom to save time... cheater...😁)

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas,
