Adventures on Cataroo Island Entry 2
Entry 2
This Morning I woke up to a strange sight. My camp was surrounded by paw prints! But not just any paw prints, jelly paw prints! And they had gotten on my book too! It was an outrage.
But no matter, I pressed on with my exploration of the Island. I had decided to brave the dark looming forest to find out all I could about this Island. (and someone had stolen my pen and I needed it to write in this. So spoiler alert; I found it.)
Now, the outside of the forest was thick and dark, but the inside was bright and beautiful. I found the cat who was at my camp last night, (also the pen snatcher culprit) . He said he was just curious about the strange new cat that had appeared on the beach. Which was fair. (But I made him give back the pen)
You might be wondering why I don’t study these cats, and that is because I am a cat. If a human went to an Island full of people they would not study them, only observe. So that is what I will do.
The cat that was at my camp was apparently a Jamsmear. (a kind of cat here on this island) Which sounds a lot like Jasmine. Do not get them mixed up though, being called a Jasmine is very offensive. Anyway, a Jamsmear is a fluffy cat with jelly paws.
No, let me rephrase; their paws and tail were always covered in jam. (Hence the jelly paw prints) Here, I am not the most skilled of artist, but I will try:
There.
The Jamsmear (his name was Strawberry) had proclaimed he was my best friend now, so at least I will have someone to talk to. Or to listen to. For I don’t think I will ever get to talk, he likes to talk a lot!
Strawberry told me that indeed the Island was full of cats. The only place that was not covered in cats was the Island off this Island. It was a volcano. But besides it being covered in lava, it also was ruled by Thorn, the brother of the king of the Island. No one was allowed on the lava Island, for those who set paw on the fire Land never returned.
Jamsmear Insisted on introducing me to all his other friends, so I had no choice but to follow him all over the island.
His first friend was named Lef. Lef was a Trider. Lef also wasn’t very interested in meeting me. Nor was I.
But Jamsmear’s next friend was very excited to have a new cat on the Island and couldn’t wait to show me all her cool stuff. (at least, that was probably what she was saying, she talked very fast)
Her name was Rose, and she was a blossomkit. She was very small.
But Jamsmear’s very best friend was named Cocoa. Although I couldn't see why he thought so highly of cocoa. Cocoa was a Cataroo, and Cataroos were the strangest cats on the Island. (You see, every cat on the Island had something special about them that they could use to their advantage. For example the Jamsmear can feed their kittens with their jam along with other hungry cats, and theTrider has tail-like limbs on its back to grab onto vines and swing through the air. But the Cataroo has large clumsy back legs that mostly get in the way or spring them off in a random direction, and a wiry tail that ends in a ball. Almost like a yarn ball. Their tall has no use except to play with! And they are not very bright cats ether)
But Jamsmear said that Cocoa had saved the Island a long time ago and that is why they named the Island “Cataroo Island”. (to this Cocoa ducked his head shyly) But he said he would have to tell me the story tomorrow.
Well, my paw is starting to get sore, so I will see you next time.
-Jacob.
Nice!
